1953 HUDSON SUPER WASP SEDAN 327 Chevy V8 Cold Air! The 1953 Hudson Super Wasp featured here sold new at the Ellis Brooks Hudson dealership in San Francisco. It came nicely equipped with Solex Tinted Glass, an outside visor, a traffic light finder, vent shades, door handle guards, outside rear view mirror and a gas door guard. The last owner had it for 49 years. He had a shop in Sacramento install a rebuilt Chevy 327 from a 1962 or 3 car with double hump cylinder heads, an Edelbrock performer intake, an Edelbrock 1406 electric choke 4 barrel carburetor, a Pertronix unit in the distributor and a later Turbo Hydramatic 350 transmission with an aluminum driveshaft. They built a beautiful Y pipe single exhaust system. They also did a very nice front disc brake conversion with a dual reservoir master cylinder. It sports a Vintage Air system with a fresh aluminum radiator and electric cooling fans. An electronic heater valve feeds the original heater core. It works nicely. Two speed electric wipers replace the original vacuum system. The Optima battery was relocated to the trunk. There is also a Retrosound stereo in place of the factory radio. I am assuming the mileage was reset to zero when the repower was done. The current mileage is 01380. The mileage is exempted on the Indiana title in my name. The work is all first class! CONDITION This Super Wasp sedan runs and drives great with its 327 Chevy engine and automatic transmission. It makes about 300 horsepower. It has a nice smooth idle which indicates a stock cam. There is a nice tall brake pedal with great stopping power from the front disc brakes. All of the Hudson gauges and warning lights are functional. It makes great heat and the air conditioning is Ice cold. The clock keeps time. The aftermarket Retrosound radio makes cool sounds and is bluetooth and MP3 capable. The radio owner’s manual is included. Since this car spent its entire life in California and Nevada, it is virtually rust free. There are a few small bubbles in the passenger side hood corner as Hudsons are prone to have. The car was repainted many years ago and consequently has some minor imperfections. The underside is nearly surface rust free. The bare metal areas are still shiny metal! See underside photos. The original seats were replaced with the seats from the upscale 53 Hornet. The entire interior was beautifully reupholstered. The exterior chrome on this car is magnificent! It is much better than the chrome from Hudson. It is equipped with 15x7 Luxor wire wheels and Brand new wide whitewall Diamondback Classic radial tires in 225X75R15. It also is equipped with air shocks. The filler is cleverly put where the spare tire filler was on the rear of the car. DETAILS This is a really nice repowered Super Wasp Sedan. You can drive this car to Cruise Ins and shows right now. You can get into the Collector car hobby with a turnkey car. I believe that this Super Wasp can be driven to any destination. It is freshly serviced and ready to go.
