Although I recently closed the club’s website, I am keeping the domain for the memories and nostalgia. I grew up around cars and have always loved the Z, but the community surrounding these cars became just as meaningful to me. It introduced me to an incredible network of owners, builders and club leaders. Over the years, many people in the Z community came to know me through Coachella Valley Z and the carbon-fiber 370Z I previously owned. I remain extremely grateful to everyone who welcomed me into that community. Around 2020 or 2021, I was given the opportunity to purchase what I considered my dream car: an early Series 1 240Z. Naturally, I took the opportunity. I began researching the restoration process and working on the car whenever time allowed. I am not a professional mechanic or body technician, but I understood and appreciated the work required to restore one of these legends. I removed surface rust in portions of the cockpit, had the round-top SU carburetors professionally rebuilt by Sal Ceja and invested more than $7,500 in having the engine rebuilt by LSpecDatsun. I also purchased a newly restored Series 1 dashboard from Just Dashes. Things were moving in the right direction until the body panels came off and the true scope of the restoration became clear. At that point, I realized the car required the time and attention of an experienced professional. I entrusted the vehicle and a significant amount of money to a body shop that was recommended to me. Unfortunately, the arrangement did not work out, communication ended and the vehicle was eventually recovered in Los Angeles with the body disassembled and exposed to the elements. Thankfully, LSpecDatsun helped locate the car so I could bring it home. That experience turned this restoration into a difficult chapter for me. I still love the Z and have tremendous respect for the community, but I no longer have the time or desire to personally take on a restoration of this magnitude. I would like to see the car go to someone with the experience, resources and enthusiasm to finish it properly. There is a great deal of restoration work ahead, but it remains an early Series 1 240Z with a professionally rebuilt engine, rebuilt round-top SU carburetors, a new Series 1 dashboard and many valuable original components. I am happy to answer reasonable questions and provide additional photographs to serious prospective buyers. Pickup and transportation The vehicle is located in the Coachella Valley/Palm Springs area of Southern California. A trailer plus an additional truck or enclosed transport may be necessary depending on the buyer’s setup. Transportation, loading arrangements and all associated costs are the buyer’s responsibility. The vehicle will not be released until payment has cleared.
