1971 Ford F250 Camper for sale in Denver, CO
Listed at $18,900 USD.
1971 F250 CAMPER SPECIAL, 390 4 Speed. Approximately 65 miles on a complete rebuild. I purchased this truck from a friend of the original owner. I have stacks of receipts for all work and parts. Too much to list, but I’ll try. FYI!!! This truck HAS NEVER BEEN WRECKED! The front fenders are white because I cut out small patches of rust behind the front tires and welded in new steel. I then sprayed them with white automotive epoxy. The underside of the fenders I undercoated. The hood is gray because I took out a few small imperfections and primed it before it is painted. NOW FOR THE GOOD STUFF $19,873.60 invested documentation. The body is straight as an arrow. The interior is very clean and the headliner is perfect. All glass is in very good condition. All gauges and lights function perfectly. I began this restoration by replacing the in-cab fuel tank and all fuel lines. I noticed a very small rust hole under the front passenger side mat. This is a very easy and minor fix. I rebuilt the original 390 engine and New Process 435 4 speed transmission (see below). I had the drive shafts professionally balanced with all new U-joints and carrier bearing by Rocky Mountain Drive line. I replaced the rear Dana 60 pinion seal and differential cover gasket. I had the renowned A1 Transmission completely rebuild the transmission I disassembled the entire front clip (fenders, radiator support, hood, inner fenders and all suspension pieces). I prepped the frame, fender wells, radiator support and painted them with a high quality automotive black urethane. I then painted the firewall with a blue pearl urethane that I was going to paint the truck body with. I then installed all new suspension components including Performance Suspension urethane radius arm bushings, I-beam bushings, tie rod ends, drag link, kingpins all new disk brake assemblies, new brake pads, rotors, brake lines, radiator support bushings and painted them all with a high-quality black automotive urethane. I had Raven Automotive completely rebuild the power steering pump and power steering gear box. I then had Whistler Bearings and Drives fabricate all new power steering assembly hoses for me. I had the original radiator completely rebuilt and rodded to ensure good coolant flow. I had Rick and Kelly at Area Machine perform all my machine work. I had Rick bore my virgin 390 block .20 over after cleaning, boiling, baking, magnafluxing, and checking tolerances. He installed all new cam bearings, brass freeze plugs and oil gallery plugs. He then completed a three-angle valve job utilizing all new, SI stainless steel Cobra Jet valves (both intake and exhaust) in the virgin 390 heads. He used all new Viton valve seals, and new valve guides. I purchased all new Comp valve springs (CCA-940-16), locks (CCA-603-16) and retainers (CCA-744-16) which Rick installed. I purchased a new Edelbrock aluminum performer, dual plane intake manifold. I also purchased a new Holly 600 CFM 4V carb as well. I SPARED NO EXPENSE WHEN REBUILDING THIS 390. I used only the best Howards flat tappet lifters (HRS-91251) and a Comp Cams 33-224-3 268H hydraulic cam shaft. I installed all new Comp Cams High Energy push rods (CCA-7833-16) and new Silvo-lite, 1131H.020 aluminum flat top pistons. I had Rick install the Hastings piston rings. All new Clevite 77 bearings were used both on the mains and the connecting rods. The crank shaft was in excellent shape and only needed polishing, not machining. The rocker arm shafts were cleaned, detailed, polished and re-assembled using Driven assembly gel. I installed new end cap plugs as well. When assembling the engine, I used Fel Pro performance 1020 head gaskets and Fel Pro Print O Seal Intake gaskets. Fel Pro gaskets were used for the remainder of the assembly as well. I installed a Melling HV oil pump (M-57HV) and a new ARP oil pump shaft. I also installed a Summit Racing True Roller timing chain set (SUM-G6608R-9), a new Harmonic balancer, and a new crank snout. A new FlowKooler Hi Flow water pump (BRA-1642) was installed as were all GATES green stripe hoses. I used my factory distributor and fitted it with all new components (condenser, points and MSD Street Fire Cap and rotor) after a thorough cleaning. I topped it off with Ford, blue colored Taylor Thundervolt 8.2MM spark plug wires and a high voltage Edelbrock ignition coil. I wanted this beast to breathe freely so I equipped it with ceramic coated Heddman Elite Extreme Duty (HED-89810) headers. They fit like a glove and needed NO modifications whatsoever! I then had Chris at R&M Services in Fort Lupton, design, fabricate and install a custom, true dual exhaust using FlowMaster type mufflers with 3” chrome exhaust tips that exit the side rears. I installed a McLeod Street Pro Clutch kit (MCL-75134). I assembled all engine components using Driven assembly gel on my lifters, cam lobes, bearings, timing chain, etc… and then filled the crank case with Driven 5-30W break in oil. I installed a temporary tachometer, primed the engine with engine oil and started the engine. I ran it for about 25 minutes varying my RPM’s to complete the hydraulic cam break in process with no issues. I changed the oil after the initial cam break-in and replaced the oil and filter with the same Driven 5-30W break in oil. The initial oil was clean, and I observed no debris whatsoever. The engine runs super strong, has no leaks, heating issues or oil pressure issues whatsoever as I installed a 160-degree thermostat. I have the original front bumper, ash tray, glove box and glove box door. I also have the windshield washer reservoir as well with a new pump. I drove my truck to the famous Seyfer Automotive in Wheatridge where they specialize in classic cars and trucks for a complete front-end alignment since I replaced all bushings and front-end components. The receipt specifically states that the truck aligned with no issues and that the front-end components were installed “superbly”. I drove the truck to Brighton from Wheatridge to get a few miles on the new engine, transmission and drive line components. The truck drove straight as an arrow, and the steering wheel is centered perfectly with no play at all. The engine bay is detailed nicely. The inner fender wells, radiator, battery tray, jack, jack mount and frame are all painted with a high gloss black automotive urethane. The techs at Seyfer were very complimentary of the detail work done on the engine bay. The front seat needs to be re-upholstered, and the body needs paint to complete this project. The hard work is done. Thanks
