This 1971 Mercedes-Benz 220 (W115) has been my daily driver for the past several years, and unlike many classics you’ll find, this one has already received extensive preventative work to make it a reliable and enjoyable vintage sedan. Between 2021 and 2024, I invested significant time and resources into addressing the major service items these cars typically require. Recent work includes a new timing chain, camshaft gear, intermediate gear, slide rails, distributor (123Ignition), spark plugs, and wires (2024). A Weber 32/36 carburetor conversion was installed in 2022, and the original transmission was rebuilt in 2021 with a new modulator fitted in 2024. A brand-new battery was also installed this year. The vacuum system has been simplified and deleted, matched to the upgraded distributor for modern reliability. The car retains its original engine and has always been carefully maintained with longevity in mind. Repainted in its original Dark Olive, the finish shows excellent depth with a period-correct look. Chrome and aluminum trim present beautifully, with only light pitting on the rear bumper. The front and rear windshield seals have been replaced. Overall, a clean and striking W115 exterior in a desirable and single stage factory color. Original cream leatherette interior remains in impressive condition. Seats and door panels are well preserved, seat belts intact, and trunk liner original. Becker radio works with a new dash speaker. Rear headliner is sagging, but overall the cabin presents authentically.
