1971 Nissan 240z for sale in San Luis Obispo, CA
Listed at $4,000 USD.
Selling my 1971 Datsun 240Z- one of the most sought-after Japanese classics ever made. The only reason it's for sale is that I don't have the time to give this project the work it deserves. This is a major project car in rough condition, and I'm pricing it accordingly. I want a buyer who knows exactly what they're taking on - everything below is the honest picture. The Good: It Runs I've done the work to prove the drivetrain is alive. The L24 inline-six starts and idles. Recent work includes: • Dual carburetors flushed and rebuilt • New fuel tank, new fuel pump • New starter, new ignition coil, new ignition cylinder, brand-new battery • New brake master cylinder, brakes bled • Fresh oil change • Engine bay and underbody power-washed clean of years of caked-on mud Note: the lines and hoses currently hooked up under the hood are strictly temporary, installed to test the engine. The Reality Check I'm not going to sugarcoat this - it's a restoration project, not a driver: • Rust is significant. There is a large hole in the floor and rust holes through the body and chassis. Plan on floors, rails, and metalwork. • Coolant leak. The engine starts and runs, but there is a coolant leak to chase down. • Broken windshield. Why This Car Is Worth Saving 1971 are the most desirable 240Zs, and finished examples now sell for $25,000-30,000 as drivers and well into six figures at concours level. Every rust panel on these cars is available in the aftermarket. This is a chance to start a restoration with a running, sorted fuel and ignition system already done - the expensive unknowns of a dead engine are off the table. This is a true classic and a highly sought-after dream car. The only reason I am selling it is because I simply do not have the time to give this project the work it deserves. It is a major project car in rough condition, so I am looking for a buyer who understands exactly what they are taking on. Mechanical & Engine Fuel System: Flushed and rebuilt the dual carburetors; installed a new fuel pump. Replaced the fuel tank. Hoses: Any lines or hoses currently hooked up inside/under the hood are strictly temporary just to test the engine. Ignition: Installed a new ignition coil, ignition cylinder, and a brand-new battery. Brakes: Bled and installed a new brake master cylinder. Maintenance: Performed a fresh oil change. New Starter Body & Cleanup Engine & Underbody: Power-washed years of caked-on mud and dirt from the engine bay and underside. Interior: Removed the seats and cleared out/cleaned the interior. Current Condition & Reality Check Rust: The car is very rusted. There is a giant hole in the floor and rust holes throughout the body/chassis. Engine Note: While it does start up, there is a coolant leak. Broken Windshield. Odometer is Broken.
