1989 Dodge Dakota Sport 2dr Regular Cab Convertible SB for sale in Seattle, WA
Listed at $9,800 USD.
Rare and fun, up for sale is a factory built classic 1989 Dakota Sport 4x4 convertible. Around 3700 were made, and less than a 1000 were of 4x4. Of which, maybe around a third were manual 5 speed overdrive. What makes this truly a unique truck is that the original owner checked the box for the "5050# GVW package". Which upgraded the suspension and added a 3.90 ratio rear axle that increases towing from 3500 to 5000 lbs. This truck has torque! What is surprising is the great gas mileage that it still gets. This truck has never been in a accident. However, it has been driven coast to coast and up and down the USA. Mostly highway miles in its lifetime, as it was owned by an airline pilot who got tired of seeing the United States at 30000 ft and wanted to explore it at ground level with the top down. At 235,000 miles, a new Jasper crate 3.9L V6 motor was installed. The 5speed transmission was rebuilt, undercarriage coated, new sirus radio w/cd installed, carb rebuilt, new brake and rotors. Both axles have been replaced or rebuilt. This truck could easily be an everyday driver. I would not hesitate to go anywhere in it. While it has it chips and bruises, you will be proud to show it off and talk about it, as folks will come up and make comments on it. I bought it during Christmas 2017, in Arizona on Ebay, and drove it to Seattle that week. It has always been garaged. I have owned over 300 cars and this is the one I kept the longest, as it is so fun to drive. I took it to Yellowstone for two weeks. Unfortunately, I'm getting older and can no longer drive a stick everyday. So that's the reason I'm selling. The engine is very strong, and the body great. No rust. Dont worry about the high millage as everything has either been replaced or rebuilt. The 4x4 goes in and out effortlessly and works perfectly. The power windows, power steering, power door locks, wipers, heater and air conditioning all work great. The anti lock brakes stop the truck quickly. Uses regular gas and no major oil leaks on the garage floor. This has the original factory rims. And there are extras if you meet my full price.... (Multiple shop Manuals and the special Dakota convertible shop manual supplement, the very rare factory convertible stack boot cover, a SoftTopper Canvas with vinyl windows - for the rear bed (see last two pics), a new factory matching spare rim, all of which are worth over a $1500.) This Dakota cost $17k when new. And over $30k (pre inflation) has been spent to make this a reliable and fun machine since then. Please text to schedule a time to see this truck. You won't be disappointed. (It will come with the original build sheet and Dakota Owner Manual.)
