This vehicle is intended for a serious Porsche specialist, professional race-car builder, collector, or restoration shop with the technical capability and experience necessary to complete a project of this level. I am not interested in selling the car to someone looking for a normal street-driven Porsche or to an inexperienced hobbyist. The car is currently in the process of a comprehensive rebuild and modernization. The next owner will be responsible for completing the project. This car is based on a genuine 1991 Porsche 911 Turbo (965), making it considerably rarer and more desirable than a naturally aspirated 964. Considering the significance of the chassis and its competition history, my recommendation would be to restore and complete the car in a configuration representing its JGTC GT500 / LMGT-1 period appearance and history. However, because the car is no longer subject to period racing regulations, the next owner has considerable freedom regarding engine configuration and power output. A modern, extremely powerful interpretation of the original race car could make this an exceptionally exciting Porsche while preserving its historic identity. Alternatively, the vehicle could be completed to a different specification. Either way, because of its history, rarity, components, and provenance, it represents a potentially significant Porsche motorsport project and an especially interesting car for a serious Porsche enthusiast or collector. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE This chassis has documented Japanese motorsport and performance history. Before entering professional competition, the car was used as a high-performance Porsche development/project vehicle in Japan and was featured in GENROQ magazine, where it participated in top-speed and 0–400-meter performance testing. The car subsequently competed in the 1994 JGTC GT500 (All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship) and has period BPR/LMGT-related racing history. Period magazine articles, photographs, and other documentation are available to substantiate the history of the vehicle. If the buyer wishes to restore the car specifically around its documented historical configuration, I am also willing to provide information and technical support based on its original development and racing history. The vehicle is being sold primarily as a competition/race vehicle and unfinished project. Any inspection, certification, modification, registration, or legal requirements necessary to operate the vehicle on public roads will be entirely the responsibility of the next owner. ________________________________________ VEHICLE HISTORY • Base Vehicle: 1991 Porsche 911 Turbo (965), U.S.-specification chassis • Imported to Japan in 1992 • Extensively upgraded in Japan during 1993 as a Porsche high-performance development/project vehicle • Featured in GENROQ and other Japanese automotive publications • Recorded 0–400-meter acceleration and top-speed performance in magazine testing; period magazine documentation is available • Became one of the early highly modified Porsche performance cars to receive significant media exposure in Japan • Subsequently converted to comply with JGTC GT500 regulations • Converted for 1994 JGTC GT500 / LMGT competition and raced for one season • Transported to the United States in 1997 • Stored in the United States for approximately 30 years • In recent years, a comprehensive rebuild toward a JGTC GT500 / LMGT-1-inspired specification was started • The rebuild is currently incomplete and has been placed on hold ________________________________________ BODY & CHASSIS • 964 Turbo S-style body configuration based on the car's 1994 JGTC GT500 specification • Body configuration associated with period BPR/FIA GT-style competition specification • Professionally reconstructed chromoly roll cage • Original sunroof roof removed and replaced with a genuine Porsche non-sunroof steel roof panel • Interior, engine compartment, front luggage compartment, and wheel housings refinished in the original Graphics White • Exterior body currently in primer and ready for final preparation and paint • JGTC GT500 / LMGT-1-style bodywork • Carbon-fiber left and right front fenders • Carbon-fiber left and right rear fenders • Carbon-fiber rear wing • Fiberglass front trunk/hood panel • Competition front and rear bumpers • Air-jack mounting provisions • Spare fenders included • Original steel front trunk/hood panel included • Front windshield not included • Left and right acrylic side windows included • Porsche 993 rear glass included • Nearly all body weatherstripping and rubber components included • Porsche 993 aluminum door-window trim included • Original ignition/engine-start lock cylinder, door lock cylinders, and keys included • New European-spec H4 left and right headlights included • Genuine Porsche steel left and right doors ________________________________________ INTERIOR The interior has been stripped in preparation for competition use. • Interior trim, seats, and carpeting removed • Original Porsche gauges retained • Complete original wiring harness retained • Spare Porsche 993 wiring harness included • Custom Japanese-made stepping-motor turbo boost gauge designed for installation in the original clock location • Seats and racing harnesses are not included; the original competition equipment was approximately 30 years old and no longer suitable for use • Original dashboard included; requires restoration/reconditioning • Genuine RSR-style door panels included • Original center console included • Dashboard pad included • Switches and related components included • Complete shifter system included • Original pedal assembly included • Newly fabricated chromoly roll cage ________________________________________ SUSPENSION, BRAKES & CHASSIS COMPONENTS • Custom CNC-machined dual strut-tower brace • RAYS / Volk Racing forged magnesium center-lock wheels o Front: 10 x 18 in. o Rear: 13.5 x 18 in. • Genuine Porsche center-lock system • Large quantity of spare center-lock components included • Suspension bushings upgraded to spherical bearings / motorsport joints • JIC Magic coilover suspension • Brembo forged/machined monoblock front and rear brake calipers • Brake system components included • ABS components included • Hydraulic brake lines included • FUEL SAFE racing fuel cell included — requires inspection, service, and/or rebuilding before use • Twin oil coolers included • Oil lines and fittings included • Custom bump-steer adjustable tie rods • Two sets of genuine Porsche steel uprights included for modification/development ________________________________________ TRANSMISSION & DRIVETRAIN • Genuine Porsche G50-series 5-speed 965 Turbo gearbox with LSD • Aluminum transmission mount • Drive shafts included • Lightweight flywheel • Complete clutch system/components included • Original ABS system and associated plumbing included • Nearly all major drivetrain components required for the build are included ________________________________________ ENGINE The original 3.3-liter 965 Turbo engine is NOT included. The vehicle was originally single-turbocharged, but the current engine project was being developed around a twin-turbo configuration, so the original single-turbo system is not included. No intercoolers are included. My preferred concept was a modern twin-turbo arrangement similar in principle to later Porsche 911 Turbo systems, using dual intercoolers positioned in the rear-fender areas. This would require custom fabrication of the twin-turbo and intercooler systems. A Porsche 993 GT2 turbocharger oil-return/scavenge pump is included. ________________________________________ IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE NEXT OWNER This is not a conventional used Porsche and should not be evaluated as one. It is a serious historic Porsche motorsport restoration and development project requiring professional-level Porsche knowledge, fabrication ability, race-car preparation experience, and appropriate financial resources to complete correctly. The project includes a substantial collection of high-end racing components, competition-specific equipment, and rare genuine Porsche/Porsche Motorsport components. A knowledgeable Porsche specialist or professional race-car builder will understand both the significance of the chassis and the cost involved in sourcing or reproducing many of these components today. The ultimate value of the car will depend heavily upon the quality, accuracy, and specification of the completed restoration. For a buyer interested in preserving the car's competition history, I strongly recommend completing it in a configuration that reflects its 1994 JGTC GT500 / LMGT racing heritage, while taking advantage of modern engine-management, turbocharger, cooling, and safety technology where appropriate. Historical photographs, magazine features, and other available documentation relating to the car's Japanese performance and racing history can be provided to a serious buyer. Technical consultation regarding the car's historical configuration and completion of the project may also be available to the next owner. ________________________________________ PRICE US$150,000 Reasonable offers will be considered. Please contact me only if you have the Porsche technical knowledge, professional resources, and experience necessary to understand and complete a project of this caliber.
