1999 Volkswagen Eurovan MV Passenger Van Automatic for sale in San Luis Obispo, CA
Listed at $8,500 USD.
This is a wonderful VW Eurovan Weekender for traveling, camping, and for hauling all kinds of things. You can comfortably seat six adults in it, and camp with 4 persons (2 adults, 2 kids), and also remove all the seats and move furniture or haul lots of cargo. It has been carefully maintained by me, a long-time VW owner and mechanic. Two years ago I refreshed the engine with a new head gasket, new timing chain and tensioners, new water pump, and all new coolant hoses and gaskets (pics available). While I was in there I replaced all the vacuum hoses and put in a new alternator and starter. About two years before that a professionally rebuilt tranny was installed at about 210,000 miles. It runs very strong and has been across the country several times. It now has 232,xxx miles. It unfortunately has a salvage title because about three years ago the van was parked in my garage when a homeless man set fire to the garage. Fortunately the fire was put out in about 5 minutes but the van was singed on the side and needed to be completely repainted, the rear bumper cover replaced, and the window tint on one side replaced, but it was otherwise not affected. (pictures available) Here are some details about it.... Engine and Transmission: • New head gasket and timing chain components done at 220,000 miles. Runs strong. • New alternator, starter, plugs, wires, electronic ignition, etc.. • Transmission professionally rebuilt ($5200) done in 2019 at 210,000 miles. • Front mounted transmission cooler and Scangauge II for monitoring engine and transmission temperature The Good: • Always been a California car – no rust and very clean • Heater core and all vent sealing foam replaced at 190,000 (google it). • 5000 miles on tires and upgraded VW 16” sport wheels. • New pop-top tent with three screened windows • Sony stereo with 6” screen and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. • Two fold-down tables and lots of storage. • Fits in standard height garage. • Sleeps 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) • removable rear seats for 4 x 8 cargo space – largest of any minivan • front privacy blinds • smogged in September • 20-22 mpg on highway Extra Features Unique to this Eurovan: • removable kitchen sink and counter installed on frame of second rear-facing seat •front passenger seat rotates 180 degrees • Rear a/c unit for cooling rear passengers (normal Eurovan Weekenders do not have rear a/c). It has this because I added the poptop to a regular 'tin top' Eurovan by completely transferring all the pop top features over. • DC/AC inverter for powering fridge, laptop, lanterns along with coach battery installed in rear for camping. Charges with alternator when driving and separates from main battery automatically with solenoid so no worry about draining main battery. Can also be charged with a solar panel. • Thule gutter mounts for attaching top racks for kayaks, bikes, cargo carrier • glovebox added from 1995 Eurovan • Led headlights and interior lights The Bad: • Small scrape on left side of van from parking incident • Radio antenna does not pick up all stations well (so I use bluetooth and my phone for radio stations) • some rubber moldings need replacing • The cruise control doesn't work at the moment. There is a cruise control module that might be the issue that can be replaced or fixed. I'm in Fresno but have it for sale in SLO because not too many people in Fresno know about these vans. I'm happy to meet half way on a weekend if you are a serious buyer.
