1999 Volkswagen LT28 Campervan -- UK Import Diesel • Manual • Right-Hand Drive • Colorado Title • $23,500 OBO Meet Dora, a 1999 Volkswagen LT28 campervan imported from the UK and now titled in Colorado. If you’ve been looking for something a little different from the usual Sprinter/Transit/Eurovan picks, the LTs are definitely worth checking out. The LT28 was Volkswagen’s European predecessor to the Crafter, built as a straightforward, durable work van rather than a complicated modern vehicle. This one has been converted into a simple, functional camper and has already traveled extensively through the UK, Europe, and the US. She’s a proper little adventure vehicle: compact, mechanical, characterful, and ready to go. The Basics * 1999 Volkswagen LT28 * 2.5L SDI diesel * Manual transmission * Right-hand drive * ~163,000 miles * Clean Colorado title * Runs and drives well * Approximately 25–30 MPG * Located in Fort Collins, Colorado The Camper Everything you need for comfortable off-grid travel without an overly complicated build: * Two rear benches that convert into a bed * Storage beneath the benches * Brand-new 2-burner stove * Sink with running water * Fridge * Solar setup + house battery * 12V / USB electrical system * Voltage readout * Integrated lighting * Insulated and finished interior * Durable laminate flooring * Roof rack * Rear step Parts & Service Despite being a relatively uncommon van in the US, the LT28 isn't an orphan. The LT shares a number of parts and mechanical components with the Mercedes Sprinter, and there is a well-established parts and enthusiast network around these vans in Europe. Recent Mechanical Work A lot of the expensive maintenance has already been taken care of: * Timing belt replaced * Full fluid service * Brake system refreshed, including hoses, calipers, and pads * New steering column shaft The goal with this van was always longevity and reliability rather than making it look perfect. Rust / Bodywork Like any 27-year-old European vehicle, Dora has some cosmetic imperfections. More importantly, the areas of structural rust underneath have already been addressed properly: * Rusted sections were cut out * Replacement metal was welded in * Areas were treated afterward * Underside is structurally solid I’ve included underside photos so you can see exactly what you’re buying. I'm not interested in hiding the history of an old van; I’d rather show you everything and let you make an informed decision. The exterior was also refinished in a durable matte textured coating by the previous owner. The steel wheels were professionally sanded, treated, and refinished in bronze this past year. The finish isn't showroom paint, and I considered repainting it before selling. Instead, I decided to leave that choice, and the money, with the next owner. Why I'm Selling Dora has taken us across the UK, Europe, and the US, and we've put a lot of time and money into getting her into a good, dependable place. Life changed, and we're not traveling the way we originally planned. She's currently being used as a daily driver around Fort Collins, but I'd rather see her back out doing what she was built for. If you've been wanting a European camper that's genuinely different from what's normally available in the US, this might be your weird little adventure machine. $23,500 OBO Located in Fort Collins, Colorado. Happy to send additional photos, videos, maintenance information, or answer questions. You're also welcome to come see her in person.
