2003 Volkswagen Jetta GL 4dr Sedan Manual for sale in Nashville, TN

It is with sadness in my heart that we have decided to let this beauty move on. I bought the Getto Jetta 12 years ago when my oldest daughter was learning to drive. I assumed that she would destroy it in a year… Not So, she took care of it with the exception of hitting a curb and blowing out a tire. She loved it, then my next daughter loved it, also hard on tires, but did get the privilege of watching the odometer cross over 200,000. Then my third daughter loved it until she graduated from Highschool. So after three tours of duty at Centennial Highschool, she was semi retired 2 years ago. I have been driving it occasionally to take glass recycle and the dog to the daycare every other week. She might not look pretty, but I am pretty sure she is immortal. Here’s the particulars: 2003 VW Jetta 216,853 miles Exterior black, every piece of her has some cosmetic damage except the trunk, and my crazy children covered that with stickers. Interior Tan, cloth that will never come clean again. Tires are about 3 years old, but very little miles as it has been our spare car. Three working chip keys included (see picture below) the one with the rubberband on it is in fact being held together with the rubberband, if you are gentle with it, you can use it to start and drive the car. If you are familiar with German autos you know that this alone is a $900 value. Car comes with a full sized spare, a shop quality hydraulic jack, the original owners manual, and the Haynes complete repair manual. The nose and hood are off of a different car, it was blue and painted to match, so if the Jiffy lube guy pulls the vin from the plate under the hood by the radiator he will think the car is a 2002 and you will have to correct him. The rear upholstery is significantly cleaner than the front because 6 years ago when my second daughter retired it and my third was still too young to drive I put in a heavy duty seat cover for the dog. When my youngest started driving I made her keep it on there as the restricted drivers license does not allow more that one passenger so there was no need for anyone to use the back seat. I just took this seat cover off and threw it away. I also had some OK seat covers for the front, but she took them off. They were stored, I recently washed and dried them and they are included. They are no in any of the pictures This car does not leak, burn, or consume oil. It will go 5000 miles oil change to oil change with no issue. In the 12 years I have had this care I have repaired or replaced the following: Brake disks and pads on all four wheels, and then pads again on the front a few years ago. Tires, I have lost track, did I mention that my daughters were all hard on tires? The starter The alternator The entire exhaust system from the exhaust manifold on back. Plugs and coil-overs The coolant reservoir Timing belt, water pump, cam and crank shaft position sensors and assorted gaskets. The serpentine belt The air filter with a washable reusable K&N filter. Put new wheels on it as they barely cost more than VW hubcaps (this is how we ended up with a full sized spare). Known issues: Currently the heat and AC is not functioning the compressor is good, but the blend door in the blend box is not connected to the knob which lets you twist from cold to hot, its stuck in the middle, so you always get a blend of hot and cold. Fixing this will probably cost very little, but be very labor intensive, I personally hate working under the dash. The passenger front seatbelt receiver is currently broken (there’s a close up of this in the pictures), it was functional for many years, then broke more and now cannot be used, this would absolutely need to be fixed before letting someone ride in that seat. There are 2 lights on the dash, the seatbelt/airbag light, its always been on, I do not know if this is regarding the seatbelt receiver which has always been broken or something else. I never let my kids take this car on the interstate or out of the Franklin/Brentwood area. Also, the ABS light recently came on, no idea about that. If you are interested in owning a legend, a ridiculously reliable legend, especially if it’s for a young driver attending Centennial Highschool contact me.
