2005 BMW X5 Here for sale in Charlotte, NC
Listed at $12,000 USD.
Hello! I am selling my super clean 2005 BMW X5 (E53 Gen) with the 4.4i V8. As you'll see from the photos, this x5 presents in almost new condition. Every function works, every pixel in the dash and radio (super rare), no oil or fluid leaks, no lights on the dashboard and no tears the leather - this car is great. As you'll see from the recent maintenance below, we intended to keep this x5 for quite a while (we just put new tires on it), but we found an x7 and it doesn't make sense to keep both, so we're deciding to part ways. I've successfully sold a car on Cars & Bids before, but before doing that - I figured I would start locally to see if there is any interest before moving in that direction. We're not looking to quickly sell this car and we don't need help selling it. This is a loaded BMW x5 - it has heated seats in the front and rear, the rear seat reclines, it has nearly every option that was available for these x5s at the time. As you'll see I replaced the radio head unit with one specifically made for this generation of BMWs so that all of the steering wheel functionality still works (and it looks like the original head unit), so that it has the look at feel of a vintage BMW with wireless Apple CarPlay. As you'll see below - we put >$10k in preventative work and maintenance into this car, including the items that are well known to be issues on these (e.g., valve cover gaskets, water pump and power steering reservoir). Recent work: - May 2026 - Replace engine valve gaskets, valve cover seals, oil pressure sender and timing cover gaskets - Best Way BMW specialists $8,580.37 - April 2026 - Replaced timing belt, tensioner and pulley - Hendrick BMW - $1,399.57 - April 2026 - Replaced water pump with belts - Hendrick BMW - $1,289.61 - April 2026 - Replaced speedometer display bulb - Hendrick BMW - $328.50 - April 2026 - Four new tires and alignment - Mavis Tire - $951.08 - March 2026 - New alternator, radiator reserve tank and fluid reservoir - Firestone - $1,673.47 - March 2026 - Oil change - February 2026 - New OEM key from BMW - $413.49 - November 2025 - Replace windshield top seal/gasket - Hendrick BMW $420.38 - October 2025 - Replace power steering reservoir and hoses - Best Way BMW Specialists - $1,514.11 Known flaws: - Light fading on edges of the driver seat leather - Some small chips in the paint - There is a small pull in the transmission from 1st to 2nd when it's cold, once it warms up or if I use manual, it goes away. I took it to a specialist and they said to leave it as is, especially since it goes away once warm. The price has been adjusted to reflect these flaws. This car has had a ton of maintenance and updates performed, you're basically getting newer generation conveniences (e.g., Apple CarPlay) in a vintage BMW which is a little easier to work on and doesn't come with the computer powered headaches that so many newer cars have. Other x5s with under 80k miles are at least $30k cars - come drive it and you'll know why there's a big enthusiast following behind these. Thanks for reading and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
