2010 Volkswagen Jetta SEL for sale in Denver, CO
Listed at $3,500 USD.
2010 VW JETTA TDI • 136K • CLEAN TITLE • RUNS & DRIVES • 48 MPG • $3,500 OBO If you know VW diesels, this one is probably worth a look. 2010 Volkswagen Jetta TDI 2.0L turbo diesel with approximately 136,000 miles, DSG automatic transmission and a clean Colorado title. This is NOT a dead car sitting in a driveway and it does not need to be hauled away on a trailer. It starts, runs, drives and shifts smoothly. I’ve been using it around town for errands and recently drove it about 10 miles across Denver to the mechanic through stop-and-go traffic on Federal, city streets and interstate traffic without an issue. I even took it up Floyd Hill on I-70 to see what it would do. That’s where the current problem becomes obvious. The car is currently in a reduced-power / limp-mode condition. Around town and on flatter highway driving it keeps up with traffic just fine. Going uphill under heavier load, it simply doesn’t have the normal turbo pull that it should. Coming back down Floyd Hill? No problem keeping up with traffic. The DSG transmission shifts smoothly and the car recently showed approximately 48 MPG on the dash. SO WHAT’S WRONG WITH IT? That’s the part I’m not going to pretend I know for certain. The check-engine light is on and the glow-plug light has been flashing. The issue appears to be boost related, but the exact cause has not been confirmed. The turbo has been checked for obvious shaft play and none was noticed. It could potentially be: • Boost/intercooler hose or connection • Charge-air leak • Turbo actuator/control issue • Another boost-control problem • Or the turbo itself It has not been completely torn apart or pressure-tested, so I’m not going to advertise it as “needs a turbo” when nobody has actually proven that yet. It has occasionally produced some white smoke under load. Most recently I noticed it while climbing a hill, but it still maintained about 35 MPH with traffic. It does not sit there continuously smoking. I’m selling it because I’m simply tired of chasing the diagnosis. Someone who works on TDIs may look at this and know exactly where to start. THE GOOD STUFF • 2.0L TDI turbo diesel • Approximately 136,000 miles • DSG automatic • Clean title • Starts, runs and drives • Transmission shifts smoothly • Excellent diesel fuel economy • Recently indicated around 48 MPG • Heated front seats • Black leather/leatherette interior • Power sunroof • Pioneer touchscreen stereo • Power windows, locks and mirrors • Cruise control • Alloy wheels • Jetta rubber floor mats • Interior is very clean for a 2010 BODY / COSMETICS It has light hail damage, primarily on the hood, roof and trunk. The windshield is cracked. Otherwise, what you see in the pictures is what you’re getting. For a 2010 with 136k miles, the car presents pretty well and the interior is especially nice. WHY $3,500? Because I’m pricing it as a mechanic special, not pretending it’s a perfectly sorted $6,000+ TDI. If you know these cars, have a VW mechanic, or can diagnose boost problems yourself, there may be a lot of value here. Worst sales pitch ever, maybe — but at least you know exactly what I know before you come look at it. $3,500 OBO Cash sale. Sold as-is. Bring your scanner. Bring your mechanic. Drive it yourself. If you’re seriously interested, come take a look and make me a reasonable offer. Please skip the “what’s your lowest?” messages. The price is negotiable in person after you’ve actually seen the car.
