The vehicle sustained relatively minor body damage. Because part of the damaged body structure is not a removable panel, the insurance repair estimate included replacement of a much larger body section, which made the estimated repair cost exceed the vehicle’s value. The actual damage was mainly limited to the driver-side door area. The door was replaced, as well as the driver’s seat because the side airbag deployed during the incident. The airbag system has since been repaired and is currently functioning properly. Since the incident, I have driven the car approximately 28,000 miles and have not experienced any issues.
